Our Brighter Shores Alchemist leveling guide will go over the uses of this profession and how to level it up efficiently.
How the Alchemist Profession Works in Brighter Shores
Alchemist in Brighter Shores is a Hopeport profession that you're introduced to during an early story mission. It's used to make potions that can heal or offer temporary buffs.
While potions require ingredients, they also need bottles. These must be purchased via Ebsworth in the Apothecary building (where you level Alchemy) for 20 copper coins each. Bottles are tracked via your Toolbelt, and do not take up inventory space.
Ingredients are obtained in a number of ways, mostly via professions like Forager and Gatherer. Some enemies can also drop ingredients, though this is relatively rare. If you have some spare cash, then Zeltay Tramagan in Hopeport Town Square will sell ingredients for a high price.
All potions — other than the most basic Healing Potion — require two different ingredients, with higher level potions naturally requiring higher level ingredients. Increasing your Alchemist level unlocks both new types of potions, and higher potency versions of existing ones.
Spare ingredients and potions can be stored in the Apothecary's banks, though ingredients can only be used to make potions while they are in your inventory.
How to Level Up the Brighter Shores Alchemist Profession Fast
Crafting XP Hopeport potions will not only help you level up your Alchemist Profession, but the potions are also useful for other Hopeport professions as well. Higher Alchemist levels can also let you craft potions for other areas of Brighter Shores including Hopeforest, making them worthwhile to grind.
If not making XP potions, you'll just want to focus on whatever is currently the highest available to you. This means that you'll also have to level your item gathering professions alongside Alchemist if you want a steady supply of ingredients.
At Alchemist Level 20, you unlock access to knowledge and passive activities. Passive activities can be done while offline, netting some extra XP — the amount of Alchemist XP you get is far lower that crafting potions manually.
Later passive activities unlock as you increase your Alchemist level further. However, some will require you to have the requisite ingredients first. Some can be gathered, while others are only available at Zeltay's shop.
