This guide tells you where to find every Avowed Fragment of Starmetal, what Starmetal is used for, and where to find a blacksmith for the Side Quest "Forged of Star-Stuff."

What is a Fragment of Starmetal?

An Avowed Fragment of Starmetal is a piece of special metal that can be used to forge especially powerful weapons. Unfortunately, finding a blacksmith with the talent to work with this metal is a task unto itself.

As far as we can tell, there is one Fragment of Starmetal in each of the four major zones of Avowed. Once collected, these items can be used to forge powerful weapons in the endgame.

Where to Find Every Avowed Fragment of Starmetal

Here's where to find every Fragment of Starmetal in Avowed.

Dawnshore Fragment of Starmetal Location

The Dawnshore Fragment of Starmetal is found at the Godless Altar on the southeastern side of the Dawnshore region. You'll have to kill some Xaurips with Fine quality equipment, so make sure you have at least a Fine-quality weapon before engaging them.

Collecting this first Fragment of Starmetal will begin the Side Quest "Forged of Star-Stuff," which gives you the option to ask blacksmiths about forging Starmetal in each city. Unfortunately, you won't find a capable blacksmith until Galawain's Tusks, the fourth and final zone.

Emerald Stair Fragment of Starmetal Location

The Emerald Stair Fragment of Starmetal is located on the northeastern side of the map in the Damp Burrow.

Shatterscarp Fragment of Starmetal Location

The Shatterscarp Fragment of Starmetal is found in the Abandoned Mine north of Thirdborn.

Galawain's Tusks Fragment of Starmetal Location

Fortunately, the Galawain's Tusks Fragment of Starmetal is in a fairly safe place, relatively speaking — you can find it in a crater outdoors in the Ash Forest. While the enemies are quite tough there, it's entirely possible to run through that area and avoid fights to reach this Fragment of Starmetal.

Where to Find a Starmetal Smithy with a Talented Smith

You can find a Starmetal Smithy in Solace Keep, the main city of the fourth zone Galawain's Tusks. Once you're granted entry to Solace Keep, simply head straight ahead past the statue and downstairs to meet Forgemaster Dela.

After you've made your introductions, you can show the Fragments of Starmetal that you have to Forgemaster Dela. He will offer to make either a Unique Sword or a Unique Arquebus. These items can be upgraded one additional time at the cost of another Fragment of Starmetal.

If you find all four Fragments of Starmetal, you'll be able to upgrade both the sword and the arquebus to their maximum power. They can be pretty powerful weapons, so you should definitely take the time to find the Starmetal as you adventure through The Living Lands.
