In this guide, we'll explain the three core Atomfall Tools — The Torch, the Metal Detector, and the Signal Redirector — and tell you where to find them.
How Atomfall Tools Work
There are a total of 3 Atomfall tools that you can find in the game: the Torch, the Metal Detector, and the Signal Redirector. Each of these tools has its own distinct function and they occupy a special slot in your Backpack that doesn't take up any inventory space.
How the Torch Works
The Torch is more than just a flashlight. In addition to illuminating dark areas, it will cause any items that you can pick up to glow. This is great for sweeping an area and making sure you don't miss any loot.
How the Metal Detector Works

How the Signal Redirector Works
The Signal Redirector can interface with Junction Boxes and switch power lines. This can be used to restore power to an unpowered object or to disable Turrets.
When you get a Signal Redirector, you should head back to the bunker where you started in Slatten Dale — it has some Junction Boxes that, once powered, will open up new rooms with a bunch of loot in them!

Here's a list of all of the locations we've found where you can get each of the three key Atomfall Tools.
Where to Get the Torch
- Found in Bunker L7 on a dead body
- Found on the ground in The Interchange when you first enter it
- Available from Reg Stansfield and other merchants if you don't already have it
Where to Get the Metal Detector
- Available from Reg Stansfield and other merchants if you don't already have it
Where to Get the Signal Redirector
- Go to the Protocol Workshop in Skethermoor at 38.0E, 77.4N, and find the bathroom. Go to the far left, squeeze through, and then climb up to find the Windfall Key on a body. Next go to the Protocol Field Station bunker in Skethermoor at 41.3E, 74.9N. Go inside and through the first door on the left you'll find the Windfall Crate with the Signal Redirector inside.
