This guide will show you the full Atomfall Casterfell Woods map along with all relevant points of interest, Metal Detector cache locations, Pneumatic Tube locations, and more!
Atomfall Casterfell Woods Map
The Atomfall Casterfell Woods map can be surprisingly difficult to navigate. Unlike flatter areas such as Slatten Dale and Skethermoor, Casterfell Woods has a lot of cliffs and hills that limit your ability to move around unless you stay on the roads. Unfortunately, the roads are often patrolled by hostile Outlaws and Druids.
Ammo comes at a premium here — the Druid enemies only carry bows and arrows, so your only hope to get some bullets is to kill the Outlaws that hang out in the southern area of the map. Still, the bow is a very useful weapon in its own right and Casterfell Woods is the place to go if you need to restock on ammo for it.
Notable Casterfell Woods Locations
Here are some of the interesting places you'll visit in Casterfell Woods.
Boatyard
The Boatyard is an open-air point of interest that is occupied by the Druids. There is a little loot and some Leads to be found here, but not much else.
Bunker L9
Bunker L9 is your bog-standard B.A.R.D. bunker with a Pneumatic Tube and a bunch of useful loot. Unfortunately, it's also occupied by Ferals, so you'll have to be careful when you're exploring it.
An overworld tunnel filled with toxic gas connects Bunker L9 and the Casterfell Dam Data Store; you'll have to find a key on a corpse in the tunnel and head north to the Casterfell Dam Data Store to remove the gas.
Casterfell Dam
Casterfell Dam is the main source of hydroelectric power in the region. Unfortunately, it has fallen into disrepair and it has been occupied by hostile Druids. There are a few bits of loot to grab here, but this location is otherwise uninteresting.
Casterfell Dam Data Store
The Casterfell Dam Data Store is a bunker that you'll have to visit for the GEN MOVE or GEN ERA choice toward the end of the game. Most of the bunker is sealed off until you get the right key from Dr. Garrow.
As with most B.A.R.D. bunkers, you can find a Pneumatic Tube and a fair amount of loot here. You'll also have to watch out for rats and a B.A.R.D. Robot.
Castle Ruins
The Castle Ruins are one of two large encampments of Druids in Casterfell Woods. There's a fair amount of Gun Oil and Spores to be found in this building.
You'll visit this location for one of the six possible endings.
Cellar
The Cellar is a small point of interest you can visit and loot.
Datlow Hall
Datlow Hall is home to an old woman who isn't all there. It's a safe location to rest at if you need some cover and there's some loot to be found.
Datlow Hall Grounds
The Datlow Hall Grounds doesn't have much of interest, but there are a lot of traps to disarm if you have the right skill. You can also loot some Outlaws who fell victim to these traps.
Druids' Camp
The Druids' Camp is a large, open-air camp that has a large number of Druids along with mutated plants. There isn't much in the way of useful loot to find here except for what you'll get from killing the Druids.
Keep in mind that the Druids occupy a much larger area in the southwest of the map than is represented by this icon. If you see blue banners hung up on trees, you're in a Druid Camp.
Garden Centre
The Garden Centre has a fair few plants and herbs to loot. There is
Helicopter Crash Site
The Helicopter Crash Site is where Joyce Tanner's team crashed. Heading here will give you a clue about how to find her and unlock one of the endings.
The Interchange
The Casterfell Woods entrance to The Interchange is right next to the gate to Wyndham Village. Unfortunately, this limits its utility as a shortcut to the deeper parts of Casterfell Woods.
The lobby area of this entrance is occupied by a camp of Outlaws; make sure you're prepared to fight or sneak by if you head in.
Logging Mill
The Logging Mill is an open-air area with a small amount of loot and a few enemies.
The Old Mine
The Old Mine is a relatively safe location that serves as the initial home of Mother Jago, a merchant that sells esoteric items. She'll give you a quest to retrieve her notes from the Castle Ruins; this will eventually lead to one of the game's six endings.
Once you've progressed her quests, Mother Jago will eventually move to the Stone Circle permanently.
Radio Tower
The Radio Tower has an Audio Log that will point you toward the location of Joyce Tanner; it will have to be activated with the right keycard in order to unlock her ending.
Remote Bunker
The Remote Bunker is a small B.A.R.D. Bunker where Joyce Tanner has holed up after her helicopter crashed. You can find a Pneumatic Tube inside along with a few Training Stimulants and some other loot.
Sewer Tunnels
As with other regions, the Sewer Tunnels serve as a shortcut that you can use to move between regions. The Casterfell Woods portion has access to important rooms that will allow you to open up all of the locked gates and make the entirety of the Sewers open for travel.
The Speaking Cave
The Speaking Cave is an indoor location that is occupied by infected Druids. There's a fair amount of loot and a few Training Stimulants to find here. You can also find the Protocol Radio Part which is needed for Captain Sims' ending here.
Stone Circle
The Stone Circle is a location just outside of The Speaking Cave that will become Mother Jago's permanent home after you've completed some of her quests.
Trader Camp
The Trader Camp is home to Billy Gorse, the only merchant who sells the Bow and the Arrows you need for it. Billy Gorse is also a reliable source of Herbs.
Village Outskirts
The Village Outskirts are a collection of abandoned buildings that have been cut off by the Protocol Cordon. You can find some loot here and it's a relatively safe area as long as you don't encounter a patrol of Outlaws.
Watermill Cellar
The Watermill Cellar is one of the many small locations you can visit and loot.
Wyndham Village
The Wyndham Village gate takes you to the only truly safe location in the game; you'll never have to worry about combat as long as you don't trespass in restricted areas or attack the guards.
