This Atomfall Bartering Guide will tell you how the game's bartering system works and where you can find all nine merchants in the four main regions.

How Atomfall Bartering Works
On its face, the Atomfall Bartering system is fairly straightforward: you must offer up an equal or better group of items compared to the items you wish to buy from a merchant.
Most merchants value all items equally, but all merchants have likes (high-value items) and dislikes (low-value items). Saving high-value items for certain merchants can help you score a lot of useful items at a bargain.
Like most named NPCs, merchants can be killed, either by you or by hostile forces killing them in the crossfire. If a merchant dies, you permanently lose the ability to trade with them, though you will be able to loot their inventory for some of the items they're selling along with whatever weapon they may have had equipped.
Merchants will accept any item that you have in your Backpack. While you cannot sell them excess crafting materials, you can use those resources to craft items and sell the finished product to merchants in a pinch.
Finally, all merchants will sell the Metal Detector and Torch tools if you haven't yet purchased them; it would be wise to acquire both of these items as soon as possible. (Though you have to buy the Metal Detector, you can find a Torch for free at the start of the game and save yourself some trading.)
All Atomfall Merchant Locations
Here are the locations of all nine merchants in Atomfall along with a list of their high-value items, low-value items, and possible shop stock.
Please note that the listed shop stocks, high-value items, and low-value items are based on what we've been able to confirm during our playthroughs; it's possible that merchants may sell other items (such as the occasional crafting recipe) that we did not encounter in our playthrough as shop stock is somewhat randomized.
Slatten Dale Merchants
Slatten Dale is the starting zone, and it has two friendly merchants for you to trade with: Reg Stansfield and Molly Jewitt.
Reg Stansfield
- Location: In the Slate Mine Caves, with entrances at 29.0E, 71.1N and 30.0E, 73.5N
- High-Value Items: Cornish Pasty, Slice of Cake
- Low-Value Items: Burn Salve
- Possible Items Sold: Burn Salve, Gunpowder, Makeshift Grenade
Reg Stansfield has unfortunately spent a little too long underground and he may be showing early signs of the same infection that's plaguing the town. Still, he's a nice enough guy and he's the first merchant you'll be able to visit at the start of the game.
Molly Jewitt
- Location: 26.4E, 79.1N
- High-Value Items: Molotov Cocktail, Painkillers, Rifle Ammo
- Low-Value Items: Bandage
- Possible Items Sold: Atomic Battery, Bandage, Mk. VI Revolver (Rusty), Pistol Ammo, Shotgun Ammo
Molly Jewitt is a cheerful woman who can provide you useful information if you trade with her (such as the location of the Slatten Dale entrance to The Interchange). She's a reliable source of Pistol Ammo and Shotgun Ammo, so you'll be visiting her frequently.
Wyndham Village Merchants
Wyndham Village is home to three merchants: Morris Wick, Iris Baxter, and Alf Buckshaw. Unfortunately, only one of these three merchants reliably sells ammo for your weapons.
Morris Wick
- Location: 33.3E, 79.9N
- High-Value Items: Explosive Lure, Poison Bomb
- Low-Value Items: Bandage, Cricket Bat
- Possible Items Sold: Bandage, Eastleigh Hunting Shotgun (Rusty), Farming Knife, Grenade, First Aid Kit, Leamington 12 Gauge Shotgun (Rusty), Terrier .22 Rifle (Rusty)
Morris Wick is a good source of early-game weapons and equipment if you're lacking something. That said, you can find most of the guns he sells by killing Outlaws or Protocol Soldiers. (Just don't kill any of the Protocol Soldiers in town!)
Iris Baxter
- Location: 33.4E, 80.2N
- High-Value Items: ?
- Low-Value Items: Bread, Cornish Pasty, Slice of Cake
- Possible Items Sold: Axe, Bandage, Bread, Cornish Pastry, Hatchet, Knife, Meat, Shotgun Ammo, Slice of Cake
Iris Baxter is all about selling baked goods. If you're looking for a bit of food, she's your gal.
Alf Buckshaw
- Location: 34.2E, 79.3N
- High-Value Items: Molotov Cocktail, Sticky Bomb
- Low-Value Items: Potatoes, Tea, Tomato
- Possible Items Sold: Alcohol, Potatoes, Tea, Tomato
Aside from selling some basic food, Alf Buckshaw is also a great source of the Alcohol crafting resource.
Casterfell Woods Merchants
The Casterfell Woods merchants are Mother Jago and Billy Gorse. While you'll have a hard time getting traditional ammo from them, you can acquire some unusual but otherwise useful items from their respective shops.
Mother Jago
- Location: 26.7E, 92.2N / 22.6E, 85.8N after The Speaking Cave quest
- High-Value Items: Antidote, Antidote Recipe, Radiation Resistance
- Low-Value Items: Poison Bomb
- Possible Items Sold: Antidote, Antidote Recipe, Bandage, Herbs, Spores, Tomato
Mother Jago is the only merchant who can help you escape the area at the end of the game. She sells healing items as well as the Spores crafting resource. This merchant is also part of a quest that can be used to get a free Skill Manual by way of helping cure Iris Baxter's husband.
You'll be able to find Mother Jago at the Old Mines in the northeast of Casterfell Woods. Once you've delivered her token to The Speaking Cave during one of her quests, she'll permanently change her location to the Stone Circle in the southwest of Casterfell Woods.
Billy Gorse
- Location: 21.5E, 89.6N
- High-Value Items: Burn Salve, Nail Bomb
- Low-Value Items: Arrows, Bow, Poison Bomb
- Possible Items Sold: Arrows, Atomic Battery, Bow, Consumables Manual, Herbs, Poison Bomb, Poison Bomb Recipe, Sickle
Billy Gorse sells the Herbs resource, one of the necessary components for crafting the ever-important Strange Tonic. He is also the only merchant to sell the Bow and the only reliable source of Arrows.
Skethermoor Merchants
The merchants of Skethermoor are Corporal "Bootsy" Hughes and Nora Thorndike, and they can have some of the most useful items in the game, including precious ammunition for your guns.
Corporal "Bootsy" Hughes
- Location: 36.3E, 76.2N
- High-Value Items: Atomic Battery, Strange Tonic
- Low-Value Items: Grenade, Sickle
- Possible Items Sold: Bandage, Burn Salve, First Aid Kit, Grenade, Heavy Survival Knife, Hi-Power 9mm (Stock), Makeshift Grenade, Mk. VI Revolver (Rusty), Molotov Cocktail, Pistol Ammo, SMG Ammo, Sticky Bomb
Good ol' Bootsy is a reliable source of Pistol Ammo, SMG Ammo, and explosive devices such as Grenades and Sticky Bombs. He's easy to reach, too, since he's just south of the Skethermoor gate connected to Wyndham Village.
Nora Thorndike
- Location: 41.8E, 77.5N
- High-Value Items: ?
- Low-Value Items: First Aid Kit
- Possible Items Sold: First Aid Kit, Nail Bomb, SMG Ammo, Sticky Bomb
Nora Thorndike is a bit out of the way, but she's one of the few truly renewable resources of First Aid Kits, the best healing item in the game. She also can sell SMG Ammo and a couple different varieties of explosives.
