Like some of the games before it, Atelier Yumia features a Skill Tree with a number of unlocks tied to it. In this guide, we’ll go over how to get every skill and some of the ones you should aim for first.
Skill Tree Basics
The Skill Tree is introduced early on in Yumia’s adventures, giving you a few trees of unlocks. Nodes on the Skill Tree require SP (earned via Alchemy, opening chests, and completing Shrines) and Energy Prisms (also earned from Shrines). To unlock nodes lower in the tree, you need to unlock the ones above that are linked to them.
Most nodes in the Skill Tree can be aimed for straight away. However, Synthesis Skill nodes (useful for creating powerful gear) in the Synthesis tree are locked behind story progression. You’ll keep unlocking nodes for this line all the way into the last region of Atelier Yumia.
Energy and Bike Upgrades
While not part of the regular Skill Tree, it is possible to upgrade your Energy meter and the Bike in Atelier Yumia. This is done by interacting with any completed Shrine of Prayer and spending Energy Prisms.
You can upgrade your maximum Energy (up to 500%), reduce Energy consumption, and unlock a few new additions to the bike. This includes a boost option by pressing the sprint button, and a wall jump similar to Yumia’s when on-foot.

Best Skills
While you’ll want to get everything eventually, there are a few skills in Atelier Yumia that you should focus on first.
In the synthesis tree, there are a number of "High-Quality Synthesis" nodes that boost the the Quality cap for crafted items. You’ll want to get the 100 Quality node ASAP, then the 300 Quality one while in the second region. Ideally, you’ll take this all the way to the last 999 node during the third region, though this also requires another part of the tree to be unlocked alongside it.
We mentioned Synthesis Skills earlier, and these are definitely worth unlocking right as they come up. They’re usually added to the tree after starting the storyline in a new region, so check back every now and then. Synthesis Skills let you do things like improve the quality of an item, or boost its stats.
Under Exploration, the leftmost part of the tree includes unlocks that raise the rank of gathered items. Since you can duplicate items using the Greenhouse early on, these nodes are more valuable over the ones that increase the number of items collected.
Most of the Combat nodes can be left until last — you get tons of experience even without the Combat EXP nodes — though increasing the drop rates of rare enemy materials can come in handy.
Farming SP
Even if you complete every Shrine and do all sidequests, you’ll likely still not have enough SP to unlock everything in the Skill Tree. While this wont matter for story progression, the “Adventurer’s Knowledge” achievement/trophy requires you to fully unlock them.
Thankfully, farming SP is made simple due to Alchemy. The amount of SP is tied more to the “tier” of a recipe (which region you unlock it), rather than its quality. Because of this, you can use one item on a later recipe, finish synthesis, and get the full SP reward (usually 50+ from the latest recipes).
