Building is one of the main new mechanics in Atelier Yumia, letting you create your own bases and furnish them to your liking. This guide will go over how to do so, and where to unlock more items.
Where You Can Build
Building in Atelier Yumia is limited to a certain specific areas. There’s the starting Atelier (though this doesn’t count as a full building site), build areas near unlocked Mana Circulators (the large round markers in each section of a region), and small Campsites.
Only the build areas near Mana Circulators let you build fully (represented by a house icon on the map), with the others mostly just giving you space to build a chest or other minor items. By default a building area is counted as a Free Build, shown by the Comfort Level in the bottom left while building. If you want to place another building type, you can enter the build catalog (menu button/+/tab).
To start with, you’ll only have the Free Build option. Placing furniture will increase the Comfort rating, offering bonuses for doing so (the same also applies to Campsites). If you don’t wont to build something complex, crafting and placing lots of chairs or beds is a quick way to increase Comfort.
By completing Pioneering Effort goals, you can unlock a few other building types:
- Storehouse - Unlocked by reaching 30% Pioneering in the Ligneus Region. Increases the storage space at bases.
- Greenhouse - Unlocked by reaching 50% Pioneering in the Ligneus Region. Lets you duplicate raw materials.
- Manufacturing Plant - Unlocked by reaching 30% Pioneering in the Auruma Region. Lets you duplicate crafted (non-gear) items.
- Mana Converter - Unlocked by reaching 30% Pioneering in the Lacuna Region. Converts Energy into Trait Crystals, Particles, or Energy Prisms. Generally not worth it due to the how long it takes to make a single Particle.
You can only have one type of building in a single build area, but making multiple across different build areas is fine. You can also still make buildings in a non-Free Build area, but you wont get any of the Comfort bonuses.
Building Limits
Each build area also has a limit to how much you can place, shown in the bottom right of the build screen. This limit is generally quite small outside of the main build areas, only letting you place a few main structures before reaching the cap.
You can increase the furniture placement cost limit by reaching 70% Pioneering in the Lacuna Region — reaching 100% in each region is also how you unlock more themed housing pieces.
Unlocking More Housing Items
Speaking of unlocking items, you have a few ways to get more for your bases. The primary way to unlock housing items in Atelier Yumia is by unlocking Treasure Troves. Each one requires a key, and most contain at least a few new housing item crafting recipes. If you don’t have a recipe required for a Pioneering Effort goal, you can select it in the list and the relevant Treasure Trove will be marked on the map.
By completing Comfort goals in bases and Campsites, you’ll also unlock a handful of recipes. These comfort goals are by region for the main build areas, but each Campsite has its own rewards (you can remove any placed items after reaching the required Comfort.)
