Our Astrometica Power Guide will tell you how the power system works and how you can keep the lights on using a mix of batteries and solar panels.
You'll spend much of your time in Astrometica exploring the various locations in the Theta-9 asteroid belt, but you'll also spend a fair amount of time back at your base. Your base isn't much good without enough power generation, though; in this guide, we'll tell you how the power system works and how you can keep the lights on.
How the Astrometica Power System Works (and How to Power Your Base)
Once you build a base, you'll find that it has no oxygen and you can't do any crafting. You'll need to supply it with electricity using the Astrometica power system. This power system is a little different from what you might see in other games, but it's not too difficult to understand.
There are four components to understand in the power system, all of which are shown on the Power Panel/
- Usable Power: How much power is stored across all of your batteries
- Current Power Capacity: The maximum power capacity across all of your batteries.
- Needed Power Capacity: The minimum amount of total power capacity needed for your base.
- Generating Power: How much power is being generated over time.
Each section of your base and each machine requires a minimum amount of power. If the current power capacity is below the needed power capacity, your base's power will go offline; you can fix this by removing devices that consume power. Power Capacity can be increased by building additional batteries on the outside of your base.
However, you will also need to generate power. Power is generated with solar panels slowly over time. Power is also consumed whenever you craft something, and larger projects might take up a significant amount of power. It's possible that crafting something big (such as a vehicle) could cause your base to go offline.
Simply put, you want to ensure that you have plenty of batteries so you have more than the needed power capacity; you should always try to keep your Current Power Capacity around 200–300 points higher than your Needed Power Capacity.
You'll also want to make sure that you have plenty of power generation through solar panels. If you keep running out of power while crafting, you should probably build more solar panels so your batteries can recharge faster.
Finally, keep in mind that all of the early-game power attaches to corridors. If you run out of space, it's not a bad idea to build one long corridor on your base for the express purpose of attaching solar panels and batteries to it.
