A new year is upon us, but that's no excuse for Sony not to continue adding games to its PlayStation Plus lineup, so if you're a subscriber, don't worry; all signs point to business as usual for Sony and its subscription service.
As ever, this month will bring games for Essential subscribers and titles that Extra and Premium members can enjoy, and the Essential games are also playable if you're signed up to Extra or Premium. Here's what's coming to PS Plus in January 2025!
PlayStation Plus January 2025: Essential games
As is customary for PS Plus Essential, you can enjoy three games if you're signed up to the service's most basic tier this month. Two of them can be played on either PS5 or PS4, but you're going to need a PS5 to play what might as well be this month's "flagship" game.
You can play all of these games on January 7th, so without further ado, here's this month's PS Plus Essential lineup!

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (Essential: PS5, PS4)
Rocksteady's first post-Batman: Arkham game sees the four members of the Suicide Squad teaming up to take down a corrupted Justice League.
With disappointing sales doubtless contributing to the end of seasonal updates for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League this month, our recommendation derives more from morbid fascination than from genuine enthusiasm, but hey - if you're a PS Plus member, why not take a look?
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe (Essential: PS5, PS4)
If you're yet to try out The Stanley Parable, it's definitely worth a look, especially since you're getting it at no additional cost if you're signed up to any one of PlayStation Plus' three tiers.
Nominally, it's an adventure game in the "walking simulator" mold, but its clever narrative twists and meta-commentary about the nature of video games puts it a cut above your average walking sim.
