Backbone is an adventure game featuring raccoon private eye Howard Lotor as he explores a dystopian Vancouver. The city is ruled by the Apes, mysterious officials that run the city with pro-Ape propaganda. Other species are split into different castes, leaving herbivores at the very bottom of the social ladder.
Lotor's journey through Vancouver will see him encountering a diverse cast of characters, leading to a number of shocking discoveries that change his perception of the world. Even the gameplay changes to accommodate some of the big twists you'll encounter throughout Backbone's five acts.
Each area in Backbone is represented in lovingly crafter 2.5D visuals, mixing high-resolution pixel art with 3D effects like reflective surfaces and dynamic lighting. While gameplay strictly takes place on a 2D plain, the world never feels restricted by this due to the distinct visual design.
