As a great band once said: space is deep, it is so endless. It seems GOG agrees, as the GOG Interstellar Sale is slashing up to 85% off celebrated space classics. For a limited time, you can also get iconic space shooter FreeSpace 2 for free (appropriately enough). Let's have a look at some of the games in the sale.

GOG Interstellar Sale - Shooters

The only thing more satisfying than blasting some aliens (or demons, or humans) - who definitely deserve it - is doing so in space. You can pick up some pretty excellent space shooters in the GOG Interstellar Sale. System Shock 2 (84% off) is an undisputed classic, and while it may be a little shonky today, it's still a wonderfully tense experience. The Ultimate DOOM (49% off) is the best way to experience old-school DOOM, and as a bonus, if you buy it you'll get the first two Elder Scrolls games added to your account for free. Continuing the horror theme, Dead Space (75% off) is still an atmospheric horror classic, so check it out if you haven't already.

GOG Interstellar Sale - Strategy

Some people would prefer to think their way through space rather than solve problems with bullets. If that's you, there's plenty for you in the Interstellar Sale. Paradox Interactive's rather brilliant space RTS Stellaris (75% off) has a rather steep learning curve, but it's excellent if you can stick with it. BattleTech (66% off) is perfect for fans of methodical strategy and mechs. Plan out your Mars colony in Surviving Mars (66% off) and build an unstoppable space armada in Homeworld Remastered Collection (80% off). Lastly, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention the X-cellent X: Gold (74% off).

GOG Interstellar Sale - Best of the Rest

Some enterprising (pun intended) developers have also created space games that don't fit so neatly into these niches. No Man's Sky (50% off) started off badly, but it's been reborn from the ashes thanks to the efforts of developer Hello Games. The Space Quest series (1+2+3 here4+5+6 here, all 74% off) brings classic Sierra point-and-click mechanics to the furthest stars. There's also space combat roguelike Everspace (80% off) and the rather sweet sci-fi puzzle-platformer Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (60% off).

These are just some of the games we reckon you should check out. There's plenty more up for grabs in the GOG Interstellar Sale, so head on over there and see what you can find. The sale runs until To infinity and beyond!
