Turkeyday is being celebrated in the States, but as we mentioned in our earlier Gamesplanet deals piece, Black Friday sales are now a global phenomenon. The age of the internet and the fact that folks are at home, make it perfect for online shops, so GOG.com is joining in with offers of games on the cheap this holiday with the GOG Black Friday sale.
Check out the deals below, and note that all links are affiliated. As a reminder, TechRaptor Pack Hunter members get a special GOG member giveaways!
First off all purchasers who spend $15 or more will get the turn-based sci-fi RPG Starcrawlers for free, giving an extra reason to explore GOG's sales for some games that stand out.
Of course, what does stand out in this sale?
The first thing that catches the eye is some of the bundles that get you a set of games. GOG's bundles all let you build your own bundle - either buying the whole set (minus what you already own on GOG) at a higher discount, or choosing a few ala carte as takes your fancy. The Legacy of Kain bundle includes most of that venerable series, with Blood Omen 2, Defiance, and both Soul Reaver titles available for under $8. Sadly the original game isn't on GOG so it isn't included in the bundle, but this bundle is still worthwhile even without it.
If you're looking for something more in science fiction the Wing Commander Bundle may be more up your alley. This features all games in the series, including the spinoffs Wing Commander: Academy and Wing Commander: Armada for $13. If you've been wondering what the hoopla about this series is about ever since Chris Roberts returned to gaming, this is a cheap opportunity to check out some gaming classics.
More in a different angle is the Prince of Persia bundle, which is based on the series last two reboots (lacking the original title) from Ubisoft starting with 2003's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and the two sequels that directly follow it. This bundle also contains the 2008 reboot of the series. These 4 games come in under $20 at 60% off for the set overall.
If you're wanting to avoid bundles, GOG has plenty of other games on sale. For example, the newer Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is available at 25% off if you are wanting to see what Ninja Theory's newest creation is all about. If RPGs are more your taste, there's a wealth of options available. You could look back to the period before crowdfunding and see Divinity 2: Director's Cut from Larian for under $2.50, giving you the chance to play some as a dragon. Alternatively, you could choose to play as part of an evil empire in Obsidian's Tyranny which is 60% off during the sale.
There's a lot of games to look at but here are a few others that caught some of our staff's eyes in the GOG Black Friday Sale if you want to look:
- Torment: Tides of Numenera - 50% off
- Hard West - 75% off
