XSEED Games has announced that the first entry in the Zwei!! series entitled Zwei: The Arges Adventure will be available for PC on January 24. Originally developed by Nihon Falcom, The Arges Adventure was released as simply Zwei!! in 2001. This will be the first time the game sees a Western release.

Zwei: The Arges Adventure is the predecessor to Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection, which debuted on western PC in October 2017. The game follows teenage sibling protagonists Pokkle and Pipiro who live on the floating continent of Arges as they attempt to track down the six holy figures that were stolen from their local shrine after they are stolen by a mysterious thief. Of course, as they travel the continent to find the idols they end up inadvertently stumbling onto a plot to revive an ancient Demon Lord, which they are forced to stop. The game is an action RPG with painterly 2D backgrounds and more than enough cute anime-style characters to satisfy any fan. As Pokkle and Pipiro journey through Arges, they meet a number of quirky, over the top characters, both allies, and enemies to reckon with. The game also features a unique, food-based leveling system for the characters that allows players much freedom of choice in how and when they want to advance their characters and skills.

The Arges Adventure was originally released in Japan for PC before being ported to the Playstation 2 and the PSP, with some modifications to the features included. This new release by XSEED games promises to include things stripped from the console version including a Ys-themed mini-game, a block puzzler mini-game, “Pet Monitor” virtual pet system, unlockables and brand new content.

Zwei: The Arges Adventure will be available via Steam, GOG (affiliate link) and the Humble store for $19.99 with a 10% launch week discount.
