The first piece of DLC for Bandai Namco's anime-themed open-world game One Piece World Seeker has been announced. The DLC will be dropping this summer and will feature Zoro as a playable character, with a tentative price of 1000 yen (about $8 or $9) in it's native Japan according to Siliconera.

The DLC episode will feature a brand new campaign centred around Zoro and set in a secret laboratory located beneath the main campaign setting of the base game, Jail Island. The new DLC will almost certainly be more linear than the rest of the game owing to Zoro's lack of powers which can be used for exploring wide open spaces. While some fans reacted positively to the news others were less than happy with a piece of DLC being set in only a single location as opposed to making the character available over the whole game map.

Fans have also speculated that the next piece of DLC will star Sanji as the playable character, at least according to the original source of the news ryokutya2089. While there are not many details about the DLC as of yet reports seem to think that it will be by no means short. With the games focus on stealth and exploration it will be interesting to see if the DLC attempts to do something similar with new characters or if these mini-episodes aim for different styles of gameplay.

Although this new DLC is the first to be released outside of Japan it was initially supposed to be the second, but the 'hot springs' DLC was cancelled in North America. While the reasons why aren't known it is thought that it was a case of censoring the mission for containing references to bust size and featuring female characters lounging in their underwear. Quick Take

As a bit of a fan of both One Piece in general and World Seeker specifically, I'm interested to see how they change things up with these DLC releases. Personally, Zoro is my favourite character and I'm hoping they can present us with some new gameplay styles which more fit his character and fighting style. Overall I think the decision to relegate him to a single location instead of the entire island was probably a wise move. Here's hoping we get a sky-island/Trafalgar Law themed DLC as well soon!
