Have you been craving for some insane hack 'n slash action full of silly moments and nonsense? Well then... you may have to wait a bit because its going to be hard to top the upcoming Zombie Vikings from Zoink Games!
From the creators of 2013's hit indie game Stick it to the Man comes another over the top hack and slash, this time featuring a mixmash of two of the most over the top things - zombies and vikings! After Loki decides to cause trouble by stealing Odin's last remaining eye, his father is forced to desperate measures and raises four fearsome Zombie Vikings to chase down his misbehaving son. Gunborg, Seagurd, Hedgy and Caw-kaa are sent on a tale worthy of its own great song across a wondrous world to find The Eye of Odin, and to make peace with their past.
Hack enemies down as you play and remember a time when video games were less about scandals and more about having a crazy good time. Fight troll poultry... literal troll poultry not internet troll poultry... go through gingerbread swamps, go through the intestines of a Midgard Serpent, and find out the truth about Soccer. What insanity can await? Who knows really, as there seems to be little in the way of limits for Zoink!
Teaming up with Comic Zach Weinersmith (known for Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal Cartoons), the game aims to be fun, have fun and be a joy to travel through. Talking about his first bit of writing in the game, Zach helped establish the tone of the game "The first scene they had me write involved rescuing Odin’s eye from a witch’s ass."
Needless to say, if you don't like over the top, absurd humor, this probably isn't going to be the game for you. On the other hand, if you want some of that old cartoon fun mixed in with a quick hack and slasher that isn't aiming at being about anything deep, and just about being fun this is probably precisely what you want.
Zombie Vikings will be coming out in July 2015 on PlayStation 4 (Via PlayStation Network), and PC (via Steam). We don't have an exact date yet, but we're sure that Odin will send a raven to us to let us know! In fact, Zoink has mentioned something about a Blog for it and having monthly making of videos starting in January. It is tentatively costed at €9.95/$11.99/£7.99.
