YU-NO

YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World is one of the most well-known Japanese visual novels, especially of those that lack an official translation in the West. Fan translations, though, have allowed people in the West to experience this visual novel over the past few years and its dive into things such as parallel worlds and other science fiction ideas. However, being a game from 1995/1996, it does show its age at times, in its art work, user interface, and a few other areas, which is why many fans were happy when 5pb Mages. announced a remake of YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World.

Originally announced for a Japanese release on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 for February 18, the new information states that it will be pushed back to sometime in Spring 2016. The reason given for the delay is to further increase the game's quality and for some adjustments, likely for the platforms the game will be released on. No price has been announced for the title, nor any information on any possible PC port or translation to English.

Also recently released is the opening movie for the game, showing off the main cast to the theme song "Recalling" by Eri Sasaki. It is in Japanese as one would expect given it's a Japanese release, with the gratuitous English the Japanese sometimes use.

Quick Take

YU-NO is one of those games I've always meant to finish but haven't. While some would argue it's not a game, it has a lot of adventure game elements to it and puzzling out what is going on. The interface in particular though could use the update it will be getting and the new art work looks very good for the release. I hope that it comes to PC and gets an official English translation, or if not an official one, another good fan translation so people can see it.
