Video game localizer and publisher XSEED Games is bringing four more games to PC in the coming weeks and months according to a press release. All four of these titles of the Corpse Party series will be available and Corpse Party: Book of Shadows will be the first one to market.
Corpse Party is a game franchise that has its humble beginnings as an RPG Maker title for the PC way back in 1996 before eventually turning into a fully-fledged product that's been sold on both the PC and handheld consoles. The first game in the series did pretty well, so much so that it spawned a number of sequels, several anime series, and even a live action movie. A version of the first title has been available for Western audiences for a couple of years and it's soon to be joined by four more games from this survival horror franchise - just in time for Spooktober! The first of the four games to be making its way to Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store is Corpse Party: Book of Shadows. This particular game is a point-and-click experience that collects a number of short stories set before, during, and after the first game in the franchise. It's set to release on October 29, 2018. The remaining three games are going to be launched at some point during the coming winter. Here's a brief rundown of the other three:
Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko's Birthday Bash is a bit of a shift in tone for the typically terrifying franchise. The adorably murderous spirit child Sachiko (you know, the creepy Japanese ghost girl with long black hair) is celebrating her seventh birthday. (Ghosts obviously don't age, but she celebrates her birthday nonetheless.) Sachiko is graciously giving her past and future victims a 24-hour amnesty to partake in the celebrations, though there's a catch - the party is themed around her own twisted version of romantic comedy.
Corpse Party: Blood Drive has Ayumi returning to the Heavenly Host school, a perfectly normal place if you ignore all of the murderous spirits and gore splattered everywhere. Her friends, the memories about them, and the mystical Book of Shadows have been lost now that the events of the first game are over. Even so, she bravely ventures back into the haunted hallways of the creepy classrooms in an effort to retrieve the book and undo her past mistakes.

Finally, Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient is a standalone story within the franchise's universe. Set in the deserted hospital Amare Patriarcha Crucis, a partially-amnesiac high school student named Ayame Itou is stuck in quite the pickle. You'll have to avoid terrifying zombie-esque creatures, meet other friendly faces, and ultimately find a way to escape before you're chomped to bits. And let's be real, that hospital name doesn't exactly make it sound like the friendliest of places to be, even if it does translate to "Love Patriarch Cross".
If spooky survival horror with an anime flavor is your kind of thing, you'll be able to get your hands on Corpse Party: Book of Shadows very soon - it will be available on Steam, the Humble Store, and GOG for $14.99/€14.99/£12.99 or your regional equivalent on October 29, 2018. For now, you can add the game to your wishlist by heading on over to its Steam Store page. It's certainly nice to hear that XSEED is going full steam ahead with PC distribution following their recent troubles with the PlayStation 4 and censorship on that platform.
You can also pick up Corpse Party (the game that started it all!) right now on Steam, the Humble Store, and GOG for $14.99 or your regional equivalent. Pricing information and exact release dates for the other three titles coming this winter will be made available in the coming weeks and months. All four of these titles have not been rated by the ESRB for their PC version.
