Xenoblade Chronicles

Xenoblade Chronicles is coming back to both North America and Europe, and this time, it's going 3D.

Nintendo has announced a re-release of Xenoblade Chronicles for the New 3DS. It will be a full on remake of the Wii RPG, with both improved 3D functionality and a new bonus mode that will allow you to view character models in full 3D, or listen to in-game music at your leisure.

Nintendo is adding other functionality to the game as well. StreetPass support is confirmed, which will allow players to earn in-game tokens to unlock music and character models for the bonus mode.

Also added is Amiibo support; with the release of a new Shulk figure coinciding with the release of the game. The Shulk figure will allow you to earn more in-game tokens for unlocks. In North America, the Shulk Amiibo will be exclusive to Gamestop only.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will be an exclusive for the New 3DS, meaning the game will not work on other 3DS systems. Nintendo has cited the faster CPU inside the new system being necessary to run such a large-scale RPG, along with built in Amiibo support. The New 3DS will be released in North America on February 13th, priced at $200 retail.

Xenoblade Chronicles was a cult hit for the Nintendo Wii. Originally a Japanese exclusive released in 2010, the game, along with RPG's The Last Story and Pandora's Tower, became the poster boys for Operation Rainfall, a petition movement to have the games localized in the west. Xenoblade Chronicles would eventually receive limited releases in both Europe in 2011 and North America in 2012.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will be coming out April 10th in North America, and April 2nd in Europe.
