The Xbox Game Pass service will be launching on June 1, 2017, with over 100 games available in its catalog as reported by Major Nelson.
Announced earlier this year, the Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service that gives customers access to a library of Xbox One and Backwards-Compatible Xbox 360 titles for $9.99 a month. It will be launching in 31 regional markets, and it will feature over a hundred games including titles such as Bioshock Infinite, Halo 5: Guardians, Terraria, and more. Although the initial selection of titles contains a decent mix of AAA and indie games, it's by no means the end - each month, new titles will be added to the pool of available games.

If you would prefer to own your games permanently, the Xbox Game Pass might still be an advantage for you. Aside from the ability to play games as much as you like (making for excellent long-term demo opportunities), members of the subscription service will be able to purchase the titles at a discount. Current Xbox Live Gold members are able to sign up for the digital subscription service right now. The Xbox Game Pass will be open to everyone else on June 1, 2017 - all that's required is a free Xbox Live account, the subscription fee, and (obviously) an Xbox One console. Word of caution - signing up for the free trial is set to auto-renew so make sure to turn that off if you aren't sure if you want to subscribe.

I never really rented games a whole lot when I was a young'un, but I had friends that did. I gotta say, ten bucks a month beats the hell out of Blockbuster and dingy local video stores.
