Microsoft managed to blow the minds off of the entire gaming community by announcing the release of Project Scarlet, the upcoming next-generation Xbox console. The machine is said to be 4 times more powerful than an Xbox One X and will come fully functional with an SSD (Solid State Drive) to reduce load times, as well as the capability to run games at 8k resolution with a smooth rate of 120 FPS. Project Scarlett will also use technology from Microsoft's partnership with AMD, utilizing both the Zen 2 and RDNA architecture used in the latest Radeon graphics cards.

As with the launch of the original Xbox console, Project Scarlett will be launching alongside a next-generation Halo title: Halo Infinite. Unlike previous consoles, however, the new machine will be totally focused on delivering a seamless experience, with reduced loading times from the build in SSD, to being designed with the use of Project XCloud in mind from the start. Along with the announcement of the new console, Microsoft also announced that gamers would be able to use their Project Scarlett consoles as home servers for the Project XCloud experience.

Although no other launch titles have been announced yet there is some speculation that the recently leaked Fable 4 will also be a release title when the machine comes out next year, and Microsoft's promise of backward compatibility with previous console generations will mean that the console could launch with a library of 1000's of games potentially. The console will be hitting store shelves in time for the holiday season 2020, and you can check out the reveal trailer down below for more details on the design philosophy behind Microsoft's next major Xbox hardware release.
