Double Fine Productions is responsible for hits including Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, and Broken Age, among others. The production company was founded by Tim Schafer following his departure from LucasArts. Schafer is a well-known figure in the community due to his work on titles including Maniac Mansion and Full Throttle along with games coming from Double Fine. His appearance on stage was met with a round of cheers from fans who recognize the man as an icon in the gaming community. Albeit brief, he announced his pleasure at the prospect of working under the Xbox Game Studios banner before showing off the long-awaited sequel to Psychonauts in a new trailer.

In a separate video released for Double Fine fans, Schafer confirmed that there's no plan to change the way that the company does business or develops its games. Double Fine knows that Xbox Game Studios selected them because of what they do, and no one wants to jeopardize that. Work will continue on existing titles through completion, even for other publishers, and work will begin on completely new games developed with all the resources of Xbox Game Studios. Schafer expressed excitement for the "next chapter" of Double Fine's game development.

This addition to Xbox Game Studios will give the console access to continuing sequels in Double Fine's lineup as well as the ability to create entirely new IPs under the game studios umbrella. Other hit names under the same studio include Mojang, Obsidian Entertainment and Ninja Theory.
