Sea of Thieves

Microsoft showed an extensive demo of Rare's next game Sea of Thieves, which is a multiplayer game where you and a crew of friends can work together to do things like find treasure and fight other pirate players in an open world. This is a Microsoft exclusive game.

Check out the full gameplay demo below:

The demo started with you and a couple of other crew members diving into the water to search a shipwreck for treasure. Once the main player came up and stored their treasure, we were off to an island to search for another treasure using clues from a riddle the main player found.

Once the crew of players reached the island, they disembarked to search for a cave entrance, killing a couple skeletons along the way. Here we saw what the first-person shooting looked like for the first time.

We also saw that you can actually be shot from the main boat and fly across the map as if you were a cannon ball, making traveling a lot less tedious. Once the players found the main entrance to the cave described in the riddle, they followed the directions the riddle gave them until the main player found the location of the treasure and dug it up. Upon finding the treasure, more skeletons appeared, and the main player ran away and retreated to the ship.

After, Microsoft showed some gameplay of fighting out at sea, as another ship filled with other players attacked your ship. After firing a couple of shots at the other ship using your cannon, you were once again shot from your ship out of a cannon to help you board the other ship. While on the other ship, we saw that you can chose to either sword fight the other players or use your pistol to kill them.
