“Conflict is at the heart of the Warcraft saga, and in Battle for Azeroth, tensions that have been simmering for a long time escalate into all-out war,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “World of Warcraft players are incredibly passionate about the characters and factions they identify with in the game, and this expansion will make them prouder than ever to declare their allegiance to the Horde or to the Alliance.”
In this newest expansion, players will be able to explore two new continents for each side. For the Horde, will explore Zandalar in an effort to persuade them into providing their naval power for the reignited war. For the Alliance, players will explore Kul Tiras in an effort to rally general support for their cause.

Players will also be able to play Allied Races, which come with their own unique racial abilities. Races such as the Highmountain Tauren, Void elves, and Dark Iron dwarves will be available for players to level up, starting from level 20.

Players in groups of three will also be able to discover uncharted islands and conquer different enemies, environments, and objectives. Players will also be able to race against rival intruders and enemy players in an effort to collect each island's resources and fuel the war effort.

Not content to leave the PVP (Player Versus Player) community out to the cold, Blizzard has also announced Warfronts, a new twenty-player cooperative PVE (Player Versus Environment) mode that has players trying to claim "key strategic locations". Inspired by classic Warcraft RTS battles, players will seize resources in order to build up their faction's forces, leading the charge as their troops lay siege to objectives and fight the enemy commander to claim victory.

With artifact weapons eventually hitting the dust, Azerite, an "invaluable new resource" has come to fill its role. Players will imbue the Heart of Azeroth - a legendary neck piece - with Azerite in order to customize their armor with new powers and traits.

Last but certainly not least, players will be able to boost a single character up to level 110, with the leveling cap moving upward to level 120. In doing so, they will able "then continue to grow in power through new World Quests, raids, [and] dungeons."

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth will presumably be available sometime next year, as well as Classic servers, which have also just been announced.

Quick Take

Keeping in mind that I'm a massive Blizzard fanboy, I am still going on my pedestal and proclaiming that Blizzard Entertainment easily makes the best CGI in the entire gaming industry. You outsiders ever wonder why us Warcraft fans were so excited for a Warcraft movie? That's why. Getting back on topic, I found Legion to be the best expansion yet for WoW, giving it a 9.5. In all honesty, this looks even better. I'm already hyped, and it's at least six months away. Ugh...
