Recently, developer Rebellious Software launched their collectible card game (CCG) World of Myths onto Steam's Early Access.

The game features Greek, Norse, and Japanese mythologies at launch. Players pledge their loyalty to their favorite pantheon of gods and then pick one to start their journey as.

Interestingly, the game focuses on attacking the opponent's temples rather than defeating their minions. In fact, the minions do not attack each other and do not have health. Instead, they have endurance. They can either go to attack the opponent's temples or the player can use their abilities in order to defend the player's temples. When a successful attack is made on an enemy temple, the player will receive boosts, such as drawing additional cards or increasing the overall power of their minions.

As otherwise stated, the player can choose a God to lead their army. These gods, such as Odin, Zeus, and Amaterasu, will give the player benefits such as increased power, endurance, or upgraded spells. With an additional five mythologies to be added to the game (to a total of 8), the player will be able to choose from a wide variety of mythologies. When a mythology is chosen, players will be able to participate in Faction Wars and try to take over the world.

World of Myths supports Ranked and Tournament modes, with a mobile release planned. Players can generate their own tournaments as well, which is pretty cool.

Quick Take:

This doesn't look terrible. In fact, this looks kind of good. Since it's free, I'll give it a download so I can inevitably be disappointed about something, whether it is the graphical options, the clunky UI, the expensive micro-transactions, or the limited player base. I'm ironically excited to see how I will be disappointed. I'm betting on low player base, clunky UI, and so-so graphical options. Wish me luck!
