As the October 25th release date for World of Final Fantasy, draws near, Square Enix releases to the public new information to keep the public interested. A PlayStation Access video showcases fifteen minutes of new gameplay while the hosts give some details about the online battle system and trading.

In the video we see the main characters going through a dungeon to complete a quest. While the dungeon itself seems pretty linear, it looks that small puzzles will be common. To solve these puzzles, you’ll have to capture the adequate monsters along the way in order to reach the end of the dungeon and fight the boss (which, in the case of this specific video, will make long time fans of the saga very happy).

As mentioned before, the hosts of the show talk about some new aspects of World of Final Fantasy in the video. Specifically, they give some info about how the online functionalities of the title. From the video, we now know that:

  1. The Online functionalities of the game will be enabled via a day 1 patch.
  2. PS Vita owners will be able to fight face to face.
  3. You can carry over your save from Vita to PS4 (or vice versa).
  4. You’ll be able to trade your Mirages online with other players (and there are over 200 of the little buggers).

When someone described World of Final Fantasy as “Final Fantasy meets Pokèmon” it really wasn’t far from the truth.

If this new gameplay video made you interested in the game or if you already were, there’s more good news. Square-Enix announced that a public demo for World of Final Fantasy will be available to download from the PlayStation Store from next Monday, October 17th. During the demo players will be able to familiarize with the core mechanics of the game and meet some iconic Final Fantasy characters like Squall, Cloud, and Lightning. Completing the demo will also allow players to battle and capture the Mirage Magitek Armor P in the coliseum when the full game comes out.
