White Paper Games, developers of Ether One, have announced a new title called The Occupation according to a press release. A trailer has accompanied the announcement:
The Occupation is a first-person narrative game set in Northwest England in the 1980s. Players will take on the role of a Whistleblowing journalist. A terrorist attack has killed 23 people, and as a result the government is pushing for the creation of The Union Act as a result of the attack. Players will spend four real-time hours to decide how they will approach the story.
White Paper Games is comprised of a small team of eight people headquartered in Manchester, England. The Occupation will be the studio’s second title. Their first game, Ether One, is a game that is also a first person adventure in which you play as a “Restorer” – an employee of a futuristic company called Ether Institute of Telepathic Medicine which specializes in the retrieval of memories. You’re tasked with investigating 69-year-old Jean Thompson, a woman who has been diagnosed with dementia. Ether One was originally released in March 2014 for Windows and May 2015 for the PlayStation 4.
Gameplay of The Occupation will be shown for the first time in London’s Tobacco Dock at Rezzed ’17 on March 30, 2017 and the game will be presented as part of the Unreal Engine collection. No platforms, release date, or price have been announced as of yet – White Paper Games has yet to get in touch with any particular platform holders at this time. For the moment, the game is in alpha and so it is likely still early in its development. In the meantime, you can check out the game’s official website or follow the developers on Twitter to see what they have in store.
