Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.

Corvus Belli released a preview of their upcoming Tohaa Army Box, an ITS ready 300 point Tohaa force ready to play straight out of the box. The box contains Kamael light infantry, Clipsos Infiltrator, and Makaul troops along with Kaeltar specialists and plenty more to allow anyone interested in fighting off the forces of the EI to do so quickly and easily. The Onyx Contact Force released earlier this year proved very popular, so Infinity fans should expect this style to continue into future releases as well. As of this writing, there is no release date set for the Tohaa Army Box.

The Warhammer: Age of Sigmar community from The Grand Alliance forums have been hard at work converting the various scenarios from the Warhammer: The End Times books from Warhammer Fantasy, and are ready to share their work with the community. As it stands now, all five End Times books have their gaming content converted for use in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar as of version 1.0, with version 2.0 containing additional rules for building campaigns around the End Times scenarios.

Steamforged Games released some additional information on mascot changes coming in season 3, along with several mascot previews. After playtesting and player feedback, mascots will have the option to use an Icy Sponge to return to the game after being taken out rather than simply losing them for the rest of the game. This combined with the fact that mascots will only be worth 1 Victory Point when taken out rather than 2 will allow Guild Ball coaches the opportunity to be much more aggressive with their mascots in season 3.

Games Workshop announced pre-orders for The Horus Heresy: Burning of Prospero boxed game over the weekend. The company’s second boxed game set in the Horus Heresy era, Burning of Prospero focuses on the battle between the Thousand Sons defending their home world and the Space Wolves sent to punish Magnus the Red for his dabbling in the Warp. The game itself comes with a total of 47 models, including five brand new Legio Custodes and give Sisters of Silence models along with 30 tactical marines in Mk 3 “Iron” armor, making the game an almost must-have for Horus Heresy players looking to cheaply expand their forces. The game will retail for $150 USD and be available in stores on October 29th. Rules for using both the Adeptus Custodes and Sisters of Silence in Warhammer 40K are available from the Games Workshop website via this link.

And finally, continuing with the Horus Heresy theme this week, Forge World has announced the release of Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves. While lacking a proper Space Wolves beard, Leman Russ is a fitting addition to the Space Wolves force. Forge World has also provided “get you by” rules for Leman Russ for players to use while waiting for The Horus Heresy Book Seven – Inferno, which will provide complete rules for both the Space Wolves Primarch and the legion as a whole. Pre-orders for Leman Russ are open now with a ship date of October 28th.

    Do you play Infinity or any wargames? Is Infinity any fun? No one ever seems to comment in the wargaming sections or articles. Been looking at Infinity to get away from the toxic Warhammer and WarmaHordes communities. I’m wondering if any of the boxes for Infinity are a good deal.

    Infinity is a very fun game, yes, but it does have a very steep learning curve. Operation: Icestorm is a good intro to the game, but it does leave a very large gap between starter games and the normal ITS-style games played. Operation: Red Veil does a better job of bridging that gap, but that comes primarily from responses from players and warcors; I’ll be taking a closer look here in the near future.

    If you’re interested in the game, I’d highly recommend finding your local warcor and scheduling a demo game to see if it’s something you’d be interested in.


    There are no local games, and no local game stores. The best I’ve got is drive 100+ miles to Denver to buy Magic Cards. I have become convinced that this game exists in regional outlets in isolation. I was planning on getting into it to play by myself because wargamers are terrible people and no fun to be around, even if there was a store that hosted table top games.
