Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.

Games Workshop has steadily been drip-feeding information regarding the upcoming 8th edition over the last week. The company has been releasing small articles explaining some of the changes to Warhammer 40K. The articles thus far have covered the new unit profiles, new weapons profiles, changes to the movement phase, psychic phase, and shooting. Games Workshop has also released a short teaser trailer for the next edition with an additional tease hinting at a new form of Space Marines as well.

The new TerrainCrate Kickstarter from Mantic Games blasted through their $75,000 USD funding goal in approximately 90 minutes. The crowdfunding campaign is aimed at creating hard plastic terrain ideal for role-playing games, dungeon crawlers, and skirmish-level wargames as well. Backers will have the opportunity to pledge for either a dungeon-themed crate, a battlefield crate, or a generic medieval town crate. Each option will be filled with various types of scatter terrain to help give players a well-made and durable set of terrain to bring games to life. As of the time of this writing, the TerrainCrate Kickstarter has raised over $283,000 with 13 days left in the campaign.

Corvus Belli has announced the model release wave for May. The USAriadna 5th Minutemen box, Steel Phalanx support pack, Zerat Special Missions Regulars, ORC trips, and Major Lunah. This release wave also features a trio of TAG pilots as well, containing a Gorgos pilot, O-Yoroi pilot, and a Gecko pilot as well. This release wave is a bit light on new releases, though, as the ORC Troops, Zerats, and Steel Phalanx boxes are simply repacks of older miniatures rather than new sculpts. This release wave will be available for purchase towards the end of May.

Privateer Press’ second wave of April releases are available with a distinct Cryxian theme. The Forces of Warmachine: Cryx Command army book is now available, along with a trio of new models as well. Captain Aiakos, Mortenbra, Neumen of Necrogenesis, and the Kharybdis heavy warjack are now available from the Privateer Press webstore and will hit FLGS store shelves soon.

And finally, Warlord Games has released the Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank for Bolt Action. The all-plastic kit contains enough components to build either the traditional Chi-Ha tank or the Type 97-Kai Shinhoto Chi-Ha variant, along with a set of damage markers, decal sheet, and unit stat card. The tank kit is available from the Warlord Games web store for $32 USD and should be hitting FLGS shelves shortly.
