Polish developer Polyslash revealed a March 21st, 2019 release date for French Revolution courtroom drama game We. The Revolution. This release is for the PC version only, with a release on the Switch coming sometime later. Originally planned for a late 2018 release, based on feedback received from press and community members, Polyslash made the decision to push back the release. Hopefully, the wait was worth it, as we'll get to explore the 1700s in We. The Revolution on March 21st, 2019.

Set in 1792 during the French Revolution, We. The Revolution aims to capture the dangers and violence of the time, as seen through the eyes of a judge. You are presented with court cases, and must investigate and question witnesses while considering evidence. Not only that, but you must navigate the complexities of the various factions vying for power, as well as personally interacting with close friends and family who may disagree with your decisions. Historical figures appear from time to time as well, but the story told here is a personal one.
While this may sound complex on paper, in practice, we found that it worked well in practice. You question the accused by linking together events and related items, hoping to sway the jury and the onlookers one way or another. Go against the will of the crowd too often though, and you could find yourself under the blade of the guillotine. Games set during the French Revolution are few and far between, and those games are more concerned with taking an active role in the immense violence. Here, your role is much more indirect. With its polygonal and highly stylized art style, Polyslash is hoping its unique blend of strategy and judicial puzzles is enough for We. The Revolution to leave a lasting mark. You'll be able to navigate the French Revolution's treacherous streets next year.
