SNES Super Metroid

Super Nintendo classics including Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Donkey Kong Country 2 are all available now on the New 3DS eShop for just $8 apiece. These all came as a part of Nintendo’s initiative to bring SNES games to the new 3DS Virtual Console and are considered by many to be some of the greatest games of all time. However, none of the games included in this list are available to 3DS owners, only to owners of the New 3DS. The same goes for the rest of the SNES games brought to the 3DS Virtual Console as part of waves 1 and 2.

The addition of these three games brings the grand total of SNES games available on the New 3DS to nine. Wave 1 brought classics like F-Zero, Pilot Wings, and Super Mario World on March 3rd, and wave 2 included hits such as Mario Kart, Earthbound, and Donkey Kong Country that came to the 3DS on March 24th. For now, this is the last of SNES games that are scheduled for release for the 3DS, but this can still change. Nintendo first announced that they would be bringing Super Nintendo games to the 3DS in early March of this year, and Japan has already had many of these games available since then. However, all of these Super Nintendo titles have been available on WiiU and Wii long before they were brought to the New 3DS for the same exact price.

This wasn’t the only thing included in the latest eShop update. This week’s update includes the opportunity to join the open beta for Lost Reavers on WiiU, as well as the release of the highly anticipated Bravely Second: End Layer on 3DS. It might also be a good time to pick up Shovel Knight as it's on sale for $9.99 on either the WiiU or 3DS, which lasts until April 21st.
