An open beta for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III will be conducted between April 21, 2017, and April 24, 2017, according to a press release from Relic Entertainment and SEGA Europe Ltd.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III is the third core entry in the Dawn of War real-time strategy franchise set within the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000. Originally announced in May of 2016, this particular real-time strategy is coming out five years after the previous title in the series. The game will feature Space Marines, Eldar, and Orks as playable factions, each with their own unique units, heroes, and abilities. TechRaptor's Travis Williams was hands-on with the game at PAX West in September of 2016.

An F.A.Q. about the open beta contains quite a few details about how the whole process will run. Anyone who wants to get in will have to register (including people who have pre-ordered the game). Gameplay will be limited to multiplayer gameplay on a selection of maps, and the game's factions won't have all of the units available to them that they otherwise would in the final version of the game. Although players will earn progression during this event, all progression will ultimately be reset before the game's proper launch so that everyone starts off on a level playing field.

If you're interested in participating in the open beta you can sign up over at the game's official website. Participants are free to stream and share their gameplay during the open beta and it will be available in all of the same regions as the final product. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III releases on April 27, 2017.

What do you think of how Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III is turning out? Do you think it will be a worthy addition to the Dawn of War franchise? Will you be participating in the open beta? Let us know in the comments below!
