During WWII hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers were cut off by advancing German forces on the beaches of Dunkirk, France. From May 26th to June 4th, 1940 many of these soldiers were evacuated to safety by both military and civilian vessels in what was deemed the “Miracle at Dunkirk”. The event was crucial to the war effort and had a huge impact on those involved. Nolan’s film will recapture the seminal event through the lense of personal stories.

Erik Whiteford, Head of Marketing at Wargaming America comments on the partnership,

We believe Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk will be an unforgettable film about one of the most momentous accomplishments of World War II, and we are honored to be in a partnership with a creative endeavor that shares our passion for honoring and preserving the incredible events that define that era.
This year marks the 77th anniversary of Dunkirk, and Wargaming will be holding “Remember Dunkirk” anniversary events across all their combat video games. Special emblems, missions, and other in-game perks will be available in World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes with things ramping up closer to the film’s launch on July 21, 2017.
