Italian indie developer Wisefool Studio announces the release date for the first two chapters of Waking the Glares, a story exploration game centered around the themes of symbols and the power of words. The game will be available to purchase from March 15th on Steam and will be compatible with Oculus Rift.

Waking the Glares will put you in the shoes of Dawnfall, a wanderer traveling around a weird universe where space and time don’t act as predictably as one would expect. The player will be able to visit different settings during the seven chapters of the complete game, each with its own theme and gameplay. The story revolves around a mysterious book that supposedly messed with the main character’s life. He now has to travel across weird worlds and discover their secrets in order to secure a way home. When the game releases, the players will also have access to an ebook version of the aforementioned literary work, the reading of which is supposed to be complementary to the players’ experience.

Wisefool Studio claims that Waking the Glares will offer a oneiric atmosphere as well as an evocative soundtrack that will enthrall the player. Judging by the trailer, oneiric seems to be an appropriate term to use. Dawnfall will explore places that border surrealism. The graphical fidelity, from the video, doesn’t look top notch despite the use of the Unreal Engine 4 but the aesthetic style may end up being interesting, especially played in VR.

Waking the Glares – Chapter 1 and 2 will release on Steam the 15th of March for the price of $4.99. The complete series is supposed to be composed of seven chapters. As of now we have no information about the five chapters that will follow.
