Here's something I didn't think I'd be writing today. Original Xbox platformer Voodoo Vince is getting an HD remaster to be released on Xbox One and Windows PC in 2017. For those who weren't in the know back in 2003, Vince is a well-received 3D puzzle platformer that Microsoft put out about halfway through the original Xbox's lifespan. Despite some push from Xbox fans at the time to make him a more permanent mascot for the system, the game was a one and done release, with Microsoft seemingly moving on from cartoon mascots to more "mature" icons like Master Chief and Marcus Fenix.

The press release I received for Voodoo Vince: Remastered pretty much confirms the game's cult status, and hopes that it will be able to find a new home on modern PCs and Xbox One. While you wait for the game's 2017 release, you can follow Voodoo Vince's in character Twitter account, where he's been posting some concept art from the original game. You can also vote for the game on Steam Greenlight, which will ensure that the game gets released on Steam as well as the Windows 10 store.

Quick Take While I'm sad that I'll have to stop using "Voodoo Vince" as a catch all joke term for obscure Xbox games next year, I'm pumped that the game will get to have a second life on newer hardware and PC. Original Xbox exclusives are harder and harder to play as time goes on and emulation for the system remains elusive. I'd love to see even Microsoft promote more of these types of releases from their back catalog, and I look forward to once again exploring the New Orleans area with a fresh set of eyes.

Have you played Voodoo Vince? What original Xbox games would you like to see released on Steam and Xbox One? What's Blinx the Cat up to? Answer these questions and more in the comments below!
