It was recently announced that tank battling mobile MMO World of Tanks Blitz is getting a crossover with SEGA’s tactical RPG franchise Valkyria Chronicles. This is the first time Blitz creators, Wargaming have collaborated with another game developer in this way. The details of the crossover are vague but the promotional video released yesterday makes it clear that tanks will, of course, play a big role.
All of Wargaming’s titles, including WoT Blitz, have focused on a certain degree of historical accuracy; basing their vehicles and factions on real life examples from periods of the world’s military history. Introducing Valkyria Chronicles into the game will not only be the first collaboration with a major developer like SEGA but it will also be the first fantasy element to enter the game.
Little official information about the crossover content has been revealed, aside from a promotional video which shows characters from Valkyria Chronicles riding in tanks. Leaks about the subject reveal new fantasy tanks are likely the hinted at new additions to the game. As no official announcement about the new tanks or any promotional in-game events has been made, the tier, cost and other specifics of these vehicles are purely conjecture.
WoT Blitz is free-to-play, however, with many vehicles, skins, and upgrades available for purchase. While many new tanks can be acquired by completing special in-game missions, it is not known whether these new Valkyria tanks will be as well. With over 200 vehicles to choose from in the mobile cross-platform game, it looks like even more interesting tanks will be joining their ranks soon.
A release date for the Valkyria Chronicles/World of Tanks Blitz crossover content has not yet been revealed. Watch the WoT Blitz website for more information regarding this intriguing new direction for the team-based MMO with tank action combat.
