A lot of you are probably looking forward to coming home today and binging on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, but you may have to exercise some extra restraint and/or patience if you were looking forward to jumping into the competitive multiplayer portion of the game.

Naughty Dog has released a day 1 patch that adds the entire multiplayer portion to the game. The fact that the patch is very close to 5GB and has to be downloaded from Sony's servers, might mean you'll have to wait a while. Luckily, you are still able to play the game's single-player campaign while the multiplayer downloads in the background.

Also included in the patch is the game's photo mode which you can use to snap some beautiful shots of your exploits in the tropical environments the game places you in. Here are the full patch notes for the 1.01 patch (thanks to Gamespot):

  • Multiplayer support
  • Single player Encounter Select
  • Bonus Feature: Photo Mode
  • Bonus Feature: Character Model Viewer
  • Bonus Feature: Render Modes
  • Bonus Feature: Gameplay Modes
  • Bonus Feature: Single-player Modes
  • Bonus Feature: Weapon Selector
  • Bonus Feature: Journal Viewer
  • Bonus Feature: Concept Art Galleries
  • General Fixes and Improvements
A second, smaller patch will also need to be downloaded which doesn't specifically state what it's for, other than general fixes and improvements.

A while back we posted an article detailing the game's multiplayer. You can check out that article here.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is the final chapter in the trilogy about adventurer Nathan Drake's search for treasure and it is out today on exclusively for PlayStation 4.

Quick Take

It's a hefty day 1 patch, but there are worse things than having to wait until you can play the multiplayer. From what I've seen and heard, Uncharted 4 is one of the best-looking games out right now that manages to live up to the hype.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
