Looks like Ubisoft could be gearing up to announce a new IP at E3 this year. According to ResetEra and Spiel TimesRoller Champions will be a Rocket League-style sports game themed around roller derbies.

It's important to remember that these are leaks, so this doesn't constitute an official announcement. Still, according to a ResetEra forum poster, Ubisoft pulled the original Roller Champions video through a copyright claim. That might lend the leaks some legitimacy. There are also quite a few assets available including a title screen, proposed Xbox One controls, and a video detailing the game's stylized aesthetic.

If the leaks are legit, then Roller Champions is an online-only multiplayer roller derby game. You'll be able to play in quick play, ranked, custom, and tournament modes. The game will use the Unity engine and will support the Xbox One controller. Spiel Times says the game will be available for PC. A report by Nintendo Life says that assets for the Nintendo Switch's controller were found alongside the Xbox One input list, pointing to a Switch release. Video footage on both Spiel Times and ResetEra appears to depict two arenas: Acapulco Arena (outdoors) and Mexico Arena (indoors).

Interestingly, some of the pictures and the video posted on sites like Twitter and Resetera have been apparently hit with DMCA claims. While there are Ubisoft logos in some of them, others lacked that and seem difficult for them to hit with copyright claims unless it is a legitimate leak.

Supposedly, a private alpha for Roller Champions is due to start in a couple of days. It's possible we might see more leaks then. Other than what we've reported, we don't know much about Roller Champions right now. Presumably, if the game is real, we'll learn more about it at this year's E3, where it is expected based on the postings to have an E3 Demo on the show floor. Ubisoft's E3 conference will begin at 1 pm PDT (that's 3 pm ET). If you want to know more about Roller Champions you should probably check that out. Unless, of course, it turns out the game is completely made up. Unlikely, but stranger things have happened, eh?
