During the Ubisoft E3 2019 conference this Monday, Ubisoft announced Roller Champions, a roller derby sports action game. First, we saw a short cinematic segment where a woman inspires a young boy before she sets off into the tracks of roller derby, skating along with a lot of cool moves. After the trailer ended, the lead of developer Roller Champions announced that you can sign up for a free alpha demo preview of Roller Champions right now on Uplay. This is only available June 14 at 1PM UTC for Windows PC.
Roller Champions will be a free-to-play team-based sports game where players skate, pass, dodge and score in a fan-packed arena. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal with Ubisoft Winnipeg and Ubisoft Pune. It aims to be a new sports sensation delivering exciting and fast-paced team PvP gameplay – all on wheels. Teams of three players are pitted against each other in arenas around the world, cheered on by crowds of roaring fans as they acquire the ball, pass it to teammates, dodge and tackle opponents to score a goal in the illuminated hoop that appears above the rink.
It’s all about competition, so teamwork is crucial on the road to becoming Roller Champions! The game will combine fun and collaborative team play with fierce and friendly competitive action. Three players team up with each other and use speed, brains, tackles, and dodges to lap around the arena so they can get to be the first team to reach five points. You can ride up and down the walls of the elliptical arena to gain speed, pivot, pass or race toward the goal to take a shot.
Victories will make it so players progress and gain more and more fans until they finally fill up an entire arena. Once players manage to fill one arena to the max, they will move to a bigger arena to fit their growing fan base, and so on. Along the way, they will unlock customization items like new gear, fan celebrations, fan outfits and animations, and more. The Roller Champions leaderboards keep track of those making history in the stadiums of Roller Champions.
The free E3 demo is available for four days only until June 14. You can find more information on how to try the free demo on the official website. Roller Champions will release in early 2020.
