Today, Frozenbyte and Modus Games announced that Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince would be released to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Steam, Discord and other PC platforms this fall, bringing the series back to 2.5D.
Alongside Trine 4, Modus will release Trine: Ultimate Collection. Releasing with bonus content when bought at retail, the bundle will include Trine: Enchanted Edition, Trine 2: Complete Story, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, and Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince both physically and digitally. Those who pre-order Trine 4 and Trine: Ultimate Collection at select retailers will receive a Trine 4 cloth poster and bonus in-game content.
Trine 4 will feature a new story that reunites Amadeus, Pontius, and Zoya, who have have been requested by the Astral Academy in order to find Prince Selius, whose “intensely dark nightmares” have begun to affect reality and influence the waking world. The trio will move through a “stunning” fairytale landscape, as well as deciphering the physics-based puzzles that have become a staple to the franchise.
Players will encounter more new boss fights than ever before, unlock new skills in “abundant” skill trees, and listen to a new soundtrack composed by the composer of Trine 1-3. Also, for the first time, players will be able to play Trine in four-player co-op in local or online multiplayer.
Trine 4’s combat system has also been fully revamped from the previous titles, with players now able to experience “fresh challenges and thrilling action”.
For those who want to know what Trine: Ultimate Collection includes, it will have Trine 1-4, a download code for the Trine Series Original Soundtrack, the Trine 4 Digital Art Book, a Collector’s Reversible Cover Sheet, and the aforementioned world map.
