Grasshopper Manufacture's Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroesthe followup to the 2010 cult classic No More Heroes 2 will release on January 29th. This news comes out of PAX West 2018, given to media at a Nindies preview event. Blending director Suda51's off-the-wall style with retro gaming, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is a collection of many different mini-game genres, while still lauding modern indie games. Though initially slated for a late 2018 release, it seems that we'll now get our hands on Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes when it releases exclusively on the Switch on January 18th, 2019.

Set seven years after the end of No More Heroes 2: Desperate StruggleTravis Strikes Again: No More Heroes follows semi-retired assassin Travis Touchdown. After breaking free from the assassin-for-hire lifestyle, Travis relocates himself to the southern United States. He spends his carefree days playing video games. However, Badman, the father of one of his assassination targets, is tracking him. When Badman attacks Travis, the two transport to a virtual world. Here, they compete in different games to earn "Death Balls," which can grant wishes.

Initially revealed last year as part of a different Nindies showcase, Suda51 has been keen to ensure fans that Travis Strikes Again is not No More Heroes 3. Depending on the success of Travis Strikes AgainNo More Heroes 3 could well be right around the corner. However, it may not happen for some time. Rather, it draws on many of Suda51's favorite games from when he was a child, Smash TV, Gauntlet and Zero4 Champ included. Modern indie games are referenced, as you can see in the trailer above, but won't be the focus. Alongside the single player, Travis Strikes Again comes with a new co-op mode. A second player takes control of Badman as they compete across the many different mini-games. With five months to go, stepping into Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will have to wait a little longer.
