Time for another free game from the Epic Games Store. Until May 16th, you can get your hands on Supergiant Games' isometric action RPG Transistor. After that, it's the puzzler World of Goo.

Following the excellent Bastion, Transistor is Californian developer Supergiant Games' second title. Players control newly-mute singer Red, who finds herself on the run from a sinister group called the Camerata. The titular Transistor is a sword resembling a circuit board. Red must use the sword to escape the Camerata and the sinister Process, a robotic force seemingly bent on Cloudbank City's destruction. Gameplay-wise, Transistor is an action RPG which allows players to mix and match their skills while taking part in hybrid real-time and turn-based combat. We really loved Transistor, so as far as we're concerned, getting it for free is a no-brainer. You can grab Transistor for free on the Epic Games Store until May 2nd.

Once Transistor has vanished into the alleyways of Cloudbank (well, once it's no longer free, anyway), you'll be able to grab the surprisingly dark puzzler World of Goo. Indie dev 2D Boy's deceptively cartoony game sees players assembling blobs of goo into structures in order to solve puzzles. These puzzles have disparate objectives such as bridging gaps, surmounting tall terrain obstacles, or simply building the tallest goo tower possible. Along the way, you'll discover a strangely sinister background narrative. 2D Boy eventually became Tomorrow Corporation, the studio responsible for Little Inferno and Human Resource MachineWorld of Goo will presumably be free until May 30th, at which point it'll be replaced by an as-yet-unknown game. The Epic Games Store version of 2D Boy's puzzler will also be getting some graphical and quality-of-life improvements when it hits the storefront, so look forward to that.
