Tournament Golf, Solomon’s Key, and Super Dodge Ball Coming To The Switch On 10/10

Love it or not the Nintendo Switch Online service is here to stay. Like its rival console counterparts, Nintendo is offering a few select "free" titles each month with a subscription to their online services. In the absence of a virtual console this generation it seems that for now, this is the only way you can play NES classics on the hybrid system.

According to Nintendos roadmap, subscribers will receive 3 retro titles each month with enhanced online features such as multiplayer, assistance (clap yo hands), save states, and voice chat. This month subscribers will get access to the following on October 10th 2018

NES Open Tournament Golf

Those of us who keep up to date with Nintendo news might remember that this game made headlines earlier this year when it was discovered buried inside the Switches hardware. Shortly after its discovery, the game was removed via a system update and many speculated if it was part of a tribute to the companies former CEO Satoru Iwata after his passing, or just some leftover data when developing the hardware NES emulator. Regardless of the reason the game has finally landed on consoles and will be playable soon. In NES Open Tournament Golf (aka NES Golf) you will be able to play golf as Mario and friends in what would be the first of many sports titles involving the mushroom kingdoms finest.

Solomon’s Key

Solomon’s Key is one of the more surprising titles coming to the switch online NES library. It's not as widely known as some of the other games available and its 1980's quarter eating gameplay is an acquired taste. Solomon’s Key is a port of an arcade puzzle game from 1987 involving a sorcerer name Dana who must solve puzzles in order to get Solomon’s Key in a limited amount of time to move onto the next room. Its definitely a late 80's arcade game so get ready to die a lot.

Super Dodge Ball

Super Dodge Ball is one of my personal favorite games on the NES and will definitely thrive with online multiplayer. In Super Dodge Ball you play as an up and coming team representing America on your path to global dodgeball domination. Its gameplay, graphics, and silliness hold up to the test of time and is easily one of the better games coming to the service.

In addition to these three titles, you can also currently play a healthy amount of NES classics such as Super Mario Bros 3, The Legend of Zelda, and River City Ransom as long as your subscription stays active. Currently, Nintendo Switch Online is priced at $3.99 for 1 month, $7.99 for 3 months, and $19.99 for 12 months of service.
