Alongside today's announcement of Hob: The Definitive Edition coming to Nintendo Switch, Perfect World Entertainment and Panic Button have announced that a Torchlight 2 enhanced version will be making its way to consoles in the near future. Runic Games' masterpiece ARPG will be seeing a bit of revival in the very near future.

If you haven't had the pleasure of playing Torchlight 2, it was the sequel to 2009's Torchlight. Both games essentially continued the legacy of Diablo as many of the folks at Runic Games had previously worked on Blizzard Entertainment's Action RPG franchise. Unfortunately, the company folded and a good portion of the devs scattered to the wind, although some of them are continuing their work with Torchlight Frontiers.

Torchlight 2, meanwhile, had a somewhat shaky development. An early alpha released far before the game's launch was very different from what players can play today. Ultimately, the developers managed to smooth things out and put out a respectable action RPG.

As for the Torchlight 2 enhanced version, all we really know for now is that Perfect World Entertainment and Panic Button will be bringing it to consoles sometime in the fall of 2019. The "consoles" aren't specified, so we can't be entirely certain if it's just the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One or if the Nintendo Switch is included in the mix. Considering that Hob: The Definitive Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch, I think we can reasonably hope to see the Torchlight 2 enhanced version on the Switch as well, especially given Panic Button's expertise with the system.

No price has yet been announced. Perfect World Entertainment says that we should expect to hear more details about the upcoming enhanced version of Torchlight 2 for consoles at some point in the future. In the meantime, you can pick up the O.G. Torchlight 2 on Steam for $19.99 or your regional equivalent.

What do you think of a Torchlight 2 enhanced version coming to consoles? Will you pick it up or do you prefer to play your action RPGs on PC? Let us know in the comments below!
