Earlier today, Nintendo uploaded a new trailer for forthcoming Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker that shows off a slew of features. Perhaps the most interesting of these is the inclusion of a second Treasure Tracker, Toadette.

When the game releases for the Wii U on the 5th of December in North America, and the 9th of January in Europe, Captain Toad will be joined by his pink-pigtailed friend Toadette in over 70 levels of perspective-shifting treasure tracking. According to a press release from Nintendo of America, the pair of anthropomorphic mushrooms are setting their sets on retrieving their Power Star, stolen by the giant bird, Wingo, seen in the above trailer. As if that wasn't bad enough, Toadette was also caught by the nefarious avian! Once Captain Toad tracks her down, she'll be unlocked as a playable character.

The trailer showcased a host of the game's enemies, including franchise staples such as Shy Guys, Goombas, and Boos. There are also a number of new takes on old foes: Piranha Sprouts and Walleyes are smaller versions of the iconic Piranha Plants and Thwomps respectively, while Bull's-Eye Bills appear to simply be red versions of Bullet Bills. The only new enemies shown in the trailer were Flaptors, a bird enemy that descends on our Toad heroes with bared talons.

Treasure Tracker will also borrow one of Super Mario 3D World's most entertaining items: The Double Cherry. Just like in the title's progenitor, this power-up will split Captain Toad and Toadette into multiple copies of themselves. Nintendo's press release indicates this won't be the only power-up available in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, so keep your fingers crossed for cat-suits!
