Respawn announced today that along with the new Titanfall DLC, Frontier's Edge, they are introducing something they call "The Black Market." The Titanfall Black Market is the beginnings of an in-game currency system.

You're immediate reaction is probably worry, and rightly so. However, The Black Market does introduce some nice additions to Titanfall. The Titanfall Black Market has two different sets of items you can purchase, packs of Burn Cards and Titan Insignias. There are different Burn Card packs based around a theme, but the cards you receive from them are random. For example, there is a Weapons Pack, which likely contains cards concerning weapons.

How do you purchase these? Well they introduced an in-game currency called "Credits." You earn credits in six ways: by winning a match, completing a match, for your first victory of the day, completing daily challenges, selling burn cards you don't want to use, and once you reach level 50, a portion of your experience will be converted into credits.

As for some final notes: you can access the Titanfall Black Market once you reach level 11, and it will still be available after you regenerate, like Burn Cards.

Respawn also says they plan to add more in the future, so keep an eye out for that.

Also, they left us with one final reminder, a good one too:

With the introduction of an in-game currency, some may worry that the next step is that we will let players spend real-world money to get an edge in the game. We have stated several times that Titanfall will not have micro-transactions. Fear not, for we plan to keep that promise - NO MICROTRANSACTIONS! The only way to get Credits is by playing the game!
