We're just about a month out from the release of Titanfall 2, and Respawn Entertainment has shared several new details about the game and its modes. As previously reported, Attrition will be returning to the game for Titanfall veterans, but there will also be new modes to try out. One of them will be "Colosseum", which is a head to head 1v1 encounter between to robots taking place in what looks to be a sumo ring. After besting your opponent in two out of three rounds inside this ring, you'll be rewarded with "Advocate Gifts", which include rare customization items. Footage from this new mode can be found in the stylish gameplay trailer released alongside this news.

There is one other special thing about Colosseum mode, and that is how you gain entry into it. You need tickets to play Colosseum mode, and you can earn these tickets through playing the other multiplayer modes. However, if you'd like to skip the wait, you'll also be able to get tickets by consuming specifically labeled packs of Mountain Dew and Doritos. The food promo codes will also contain a chance at Double XP vouchers, more Titan customizations, and even an early unlock of the sword-wielding Ronin titan. Barring all that, you can also grab a few tickets the next time you go to Buffalo Wild Wings and play a few rounds of Golden Tee

Titanfall 2 drops in on October 28th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin.

Quick Take

Mountain Dew continues its long-running string of promotional "Game Fuel" partnerships with Titanfall 2, and it seems like the right choice in a year where CoD is looking at the past and Halo is releasing an RTS. As for the Colosseum mode itself, one has to wonder how much of the unique customization trinkets are locked behind access to those tickets. In addition, you also wonder how long before they start charging money for those tickets in addition to the other ways to grab them. Mountain Dew isn't going to run the promotion forever, and this seems like EA's way to sneak microtransactions into the game a few months after reviewers have had their say.
