Nintendo is riding a bit of a high this year with the Switch. Not only do they hold two of the five slots for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, but they're back on top in the console market after the lackluster Wii U. Now, TIME Magazine has named the Switch one of the best inventions of 2017.

TIME's lists cover all sorts of industries. This one sees Nintendo's new hybrid up against guilt-free ice cream, makeup shades for all skin tones, and even the new Tesla. Here's how TIME describes it in their list:

'When you have a great game, that moment of disappointment is when you have to stop playing,' says Reggie Fils-Aimé, president of Nintendo of America. And so, with the Nintendo Switch, you don’t have to. In one form, it’s a handheld tablet, allowing a single user to game on the go. In another, two controllers slide off from the sides, allowing multiple users to get in on the action. Once they get home, they can slide that tablet into a docking station and continue playing on a legitimate home console. Gamers seem to like the flexibility: Nintendo has sold 7.63 million Switches since its March debut; it’s expected to surpass the company’s previous console, the Wii U, by the end of its fiscal year.
Everyone seems to be praising the Switch. Third parties are swarming to get their games on it, indies are seeing new light, and it's a console both casuals and hardcore can agree upon. There's something for everyone to play, and the ability to bring it on the go is a nice bonus.

With Black Friday sales coming up there isn't a better time to pick one up yourself.

What do you think of TIME honoring the Switch? Has it convinced you to pick one up finally? Let us know in the comments below!
