XSEED announced today that they will be bringing three JRPG’s from The Legend of Heroes series to PC for Western audiences. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will be available to Windows PC’s this summer. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd will also be coming on May 3rd. Plans to bring The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II to PC are also in motion.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd is the final entry in the Trails in the Sky arc of The Legend of Heroes series and this will be the first time the game is available in English via Windows PC. The game takes place a year and a half after Trails in the Sky Second Chapter and now a mysterious order of the Septian Church called the Gralsritter have dedicated themselves to stopping the theft of ancient artifacts. The story follows Father Kevin Graham, a rookie Gralsritter and his childhood friend Sister Ries Argent as they embark on one such mission only to find themselves in the unnatural realm of Phantasma.
Considered to have the most challenging combat in the series, players can choose to play on a range of difficulty modes from Easy to Nightmare depending on how much punishment they’d like. Back from the previous titles in the series is the great music with dozens of new tracks being added to the soundtrack. And of course, there’s a very in-depth story for players to enjoy.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel expands on Nihon Falcom’s Trails franchise. The game was originally released on PS3 and PS Vita in 2015 and will soon be available on PC this summer with over 5,000 new lines of voiceover dialogue in English. This game takes place on the same continent as Trials in the Sky, Erebonia, and allows players to further explore that world. This RPG with tactical turn-based combat casts players as elite military students who find themselves in important battles.
Bonding with classmates will earn new abilities to use in battle. In between fights players will use the “ARCUS” system to upgrade their party members. This new system is an updated version of the “Orbment” magic system from previous titles and facilitates more access to abilities and quick customization.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will be available on Steam, GOG.com, and The Humble Store when available. On May 3rd Trials in the Sky the 3rd will can be purchased for $29.99. Trials of Cold Steel will launch in the Summer of 2017. Trials of Cold Steel II will also be coming to PC but a date hasn’t been announced yet.
