This War of Mine is coming to a Tabletop near you very soon, with the help of veteran board game designers Michal Oracz and Jakub Wiśniewski. The original game (TechRaptor’s This War of Mine Review Here!) focused on the civilian experience of war instead of the frontline combat, and was inspired by the Siege of Sarajeva during the Bosnian War. With the new game, 11 bit studios is aiming to adapt the drama and tension you felt in the war-torn city of the video game, and bring it to the table.

This War of Mine The Board Game will be a a multiplayer experience for up to 6 players, but will also allow you to play with a solo variant. The board game plans to significantly expand the video game’s universe, and to emphasize the depth of the plot. Because of this, you’ll see characters that you’ve already met and become familiar with in the game, as well as face new and difficult challenges and choices. It will be up to you, or your group, to make the right decisions to survive.

This War of Mine The Board Game PromoThus far, details are scarce, but one of the biggest details that has been released is that the game will differ in a big way from traditional board games – there’s no need to read a manual before you start playing. Hop right in, and start playing.

Additionally, the game will include an optional companion app that will give players access to things like live story updates, scenario-triggered scripts, cut scenes, game-related puzzles, mini-radio plays, hidden secrets, hand-drawn concept art for in-game locations and much more, all with the purpose of engaging the player even deeper into the story of the game.

As mentioned before, 11 bit studios will be working with two veteran designers from the tabletop industry to create This War of Mine The Board Game – Michael Oracz (designer of Neuroshima Hex, Earthcore: Shattered Elements, De Prefundis, and more) and Jakub Wiśniewski (translator and story designer for Earthcore: Shattered Elements, Dying Light, and others).

11 bit is also currently working on This War of Mine: The Little Ones, a new game that “explores the hardships of wartime survival as seen from an entirely new perspective; that of a child”. That game will be releasing on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

This War of Mine The Board Game is coming in 2016. Check out the Official Site here.
