The ThinkGeek website is going to be closing down next month as it folds operations into its parent company GameStop. If you haven't heard of ThinkGeek before, they're a company that specializes in selling all sort of geeky merchandise. They've been around for quite a few years now, but the decision has been made to close their online operations and merge them with that of GameStop.

The help page on the ThinkGeek website states that their online store is going to be shuttering on July 2, 2019. The 40 or so physical ThinkGeek locations are going to remain open. In addition, a selection of items from the company are going to be popping up in over 3,700 GameStop retail locations.

Any orders made on the ThinkGeek website by or before July 2, 2019, will be honored, although the help page takes care to mention that there may be delays as they expect a deluge of customers trying to snap up some last-minute details. Returns on orders placed before June 13, 2019, will also be honored; unfortunately, anyone who has placed an order after that is going to be out of luck.

Longtime customers who have earned some Geek Points will be sad to hear that this particular program will be ending when the site moves on July 2, 2019. If you have any points remaining, now is the time to spend them! If you happen to have any left over after the move, they will be converted into an e-mail coupon that will be able to be used at GameStop. As for gift cards, ThinkGeek gift cards have worked at GameStop physical locations since 2017 and they will continue to be honored there for as long as they are valid.

The closure of the ThinkGeek website marks a somewhat sad day in the history of geeky merchandise. They will live on within the halls of GameStop, although who knows how long that will last considering the company's uncertain future.
